State Of The Commonwealth

Frankfort, KY – Governor Ernie Fletcher joined the chorus calling for better pay for Kentucky teachers Monday night during his annual State of the Commonwealth address.
Fletcher says a raise would bring teacher wages more in line with educators in neighboring states.
In his far-reaching speech, Fletcher also proposed increasing the state's speed limit on Kentucky interstate highways and other appropriate roads to 70 miles an hour. He also called for a tougher seat belt law.
Fletcher also encouraged the teaching of a controversial theory known as intelligent design, a purported challenge to the theory of evolution
