State Employee Files Lawsuit

Pikeville, KY – A state employee has filed a federal lawsuit alleging she was passed over for a promotion because of politics.
Almeda Wireman named Governor Fletcher and the transportation cabinet in the suit which was filed Tuesday in Pikeville.
She claims she was on the wrong end of a political deal set up set up by Fletcher administration personnel. The deal promoted someone else to highway district administrative manager.
She says she learned of the deal from news accounts of a tape recorded phone conversation between two administration officials.
She says the job went to Billy Montgomery who lacked a college degree.
Wireman says she was in line for the promotion.
The Fletcher adminsitration has not commented on the suit.
