Bowling Green, KY – The Carroll C.Cropper bridge carries Interstate 275 traffic across the Ohio River from near the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to southeastern Indiana. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesperson Nancy Wood says the inspection is precautionary and comes after federal officials called on states to check bridges in which T-1 steel was used.
State officials say the inspection of the structure started Monday and is expected to be completed tomorrow. The bridge carries an average of more than 32 thousand vehicles per day.
The Sherman Minton bridge in Louisville was closed last month after cracks were found in some steel beams. Repairs on that structure are expected to take several months.
