Bowling Green,KY – State Epidemiologist Dr. Kraig Humbaugh says pertussis can cause serious complications for some patients, and he recommends vaccination for anyone coming in
contact with children under one year of age. The State Department of Public Health says 250 cases have now been reported in the Commonwealth this year. The highly-contagious disease is also known as "whooping cough."
State health officials say vaccine supplies should be adequate to meet demand.
