State Receives Grant for Election Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities

By Dan Modlin

Frankfort, KY – The State of Kentucky has received a Federal Election
Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Grant. Secretary
of State Trey Grayson, who is the Chief Election Officer
of the Commonwealth, says the 169 thousand dollar
grant is coming from the Department of Health and
Human Services.

Grayson says the funding will allow the state to expand
efforts to provide access to the democratic process
"to every Kentucky citizen." The grant will be utilized to
make polling places accessible to people with a full
range of disabilities. The State Board of Elections has
entered into an agreement with the Kentucky Disabilities
Coalition to help administer the funding, which is part
of the Help America Vote Act.
