Budget Now Heads to the House

State Senate Passes Budget Bill
The Kentucky Senate has approved a two year, $19 billion state budget that includes sharp cuts to most goverment programs and agencies. The plan was approved this afternoon, by a vote of 36 to 1 and will now go the the House of Representatives for consideration.
The Associated Press says the measure calls for 8.4 percent cuts to most government programs and agencies, as the state tries to cope with ongoing financial problems brought on by the recession that started in 2008 and 2009.Kentucky lawmakers still haven't resolved differences in $3.5 million worth of road construction projects that are planned for the next two years.
