State Senate Race Settled

By AP

Louisville, KY – The 37th district state senate seat is no longer vacant. Democrat Perry Clark will step in to fill the seat in the general assembly after beating Republican Debbie Peden in a special election Tuesday night 54% to 46%.
The south Louisville district had been without a senator since the November, 2004 elections because of a long running dispute settled by the state Supreme Court. It's ruling resulted in a clean slate featuring two new candidates chosen by their local party leaders.
Clark resigned his House seat to run for the Senate.
In a special election to choose his successor, Democrat Ron Weston easily defeated Republican Carolee Allen.
