State-Wide Air Toxins Group Formed

By AP

Frankfort, KY – Environmental and public protection cabinet secretary LaJuana Wilcher has announced the creation of a state-wide air toxins workgroup.
She says it's in response to concerns about toxic air pollutants in the commonwealth.
Experts in toxicology, environmental policy and risk assessment will serve on the workgroup, which will address the extent of elevated levels of toxic air pollutants in kentucky's industrialized areas and population centers.
The group's members will also work with the EPPC and the cabinet's division for air quality to gauge how current regulations protect public health from toxic air pollutants.
Wilcher says the workgroup is part of the cabinet's effort to review programs and determine if current regulatory procedures sufficiently protect public health.
