Tennessee Fugitives Still On The Loose

By AP

Kingston, TN – Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Director Mark Gwyn says the killing of a corrections officer during a state inmate's escape in Kingston was a "Bonnie and Clyde style shootout".
Gwyn says George and Jennifer Hyatte are some of the most dangerous fugitives Tennesse authorities have ever sought. He says the couple has nothing to lose at this point, having already committed murder.
George Hyatte was being led schackled and handcuffed by two state prison guards from the Roane County courthouse in Kingston Tuesday morning. Police say that's when his wife, Jennifer, pulled up in an SUV and her husband shouted "shoot him".
Authorities say she opened fire on the officers, striking 56 year old Wayne "Cotton" Morgan in the abdomen. He was flown to a Knoxville hospital and later pronounced dead.
Gwyn said Wednesday morning that blood found in the abandoned SUV could indicate one of the fugitives might need medical treatment.
Edith Hyatte told a Chattanooga television station she wants her son to give himself up.
