Tennessee Governor's Race a Dead Heat

Nashville – A new poll shows Democrat Phil Bredesen ahd Republican Van Hilleary in a dead heat for the Tennessee Governor's race with just over a week left until election day.

In a survey commissioned by the Tennessean and the Chattanooga Times Free Press, Bredesen polled 45 percent to Hilleary's 42 percent when 625 registered voters were asked which candidate they would vote for if the election were held that day. Ten percent were undecided. The poll was conducted October 21st through the 23rd by Washington based Mason-Dixon Polling and Research. It has a margin of error of four percentage points.
