Tennessee Guardsmen Killed In Iraq

Nashville,TN – Three soldiers with Tennessee's largest Army National Guard unit have been killed in Iraq.
The Tennessee military department confirmed the identities as 35 year old SSGT Asbury Hawn II of Lebanon, 30 year old SGT Shannon Taylor of Smithville and 22 year old SGT Gary Reese of Ashland City. All three soldiers were members of the 3rd Squadron, 278th Regimental Combat Team.
The men were killed early yesterday by hostile fire near Forward Operating Base Bernstein in northeastern Iraq.
Also, a Clarksville soldier's death in Afghanistan was confirmed Monday.
Thirty year old Captain Jeremy Chandler died while conducting training activities at Forward Operating Base Ripley. He was stationed with the 3rd Special Forces Group out of Fort Bragg, NC
Chandler died from non-battle injuries and the Army said his death is being investigated.
