Officials with the Kentucky Public Service Commission say there are about 93 hundred power outages in storm damaged areas of Kentucky, as of mid-morning Monday. That number does not include outages in areas served by municipal utilties or by rural electric cooperatives in the Tennessee Valley system.
At one point on Saturday, more than 21 thousand outages had been reported in the bluegrass state. That number also does not include power interruptions related to winter weather in the state today.
Winter weather has complicated attempts to restore power to some areas. Several inches of heavy, wet snow hit portions of Kentucky today, and led to more than 89 hundred new outages. Scott, Franklin, Woodford,Fayette,Bourbon, Clark, Montgomery, and Menifee Counties have reported snow-related outages today.
