Tire Amnesty Program Starts Today in Hart County
By Dan Modlin
Today through Saturday, a tire amnesty drop-off program will be available in Hart County, Kentucky. Its part of a regional re-cycling effort that is designed to help reduce improper tire disposal. The Environmental Protection Agency says old tires account for about two percent of the solid waste disposal in the U.S.
The drop-off site in Hart County is the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Maintenance Facility, located on 31W, just northof the Interstate 65 interchange. Residents can drop off tires, regardless of whether they are on the rims or off. Farm tires will also be accepted.
The hours for the drop-off program are 7:30am until 4:30 pm, today, Friday, and Saturday.
