Owensboro's International Bar-B-Q Festival is expected to draw tens of thousands of visitors to the Daviess County area this weekend.
Tourism officials say they're encouraged by the weekend forecast.
Karen Miller, Executive Director of the Owensboro-Daviess County Convention and Visitor's Bureau, told WKU Public Radio that crowds this weekend "could reach sixty to eighty thousand people." Miller says demand for vending space at the annual festival was very strong. She says its difficult to put an accurate figure on the economic impact of the event, but stressed that area shopping, hotels, and restaurants will benefit from the festival. The event, which runs Friday and Saturday, includes food, live music, art displays, and vendors.
