The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has released the following advisory for I-65 in southcentral Kentucky:
Traffic on Southbound I-65 continues to be very slow and stopped in spots from near the construction zone at the Barren/Hart County line extending back to about Bonnieville. The backup is believed to be a result of motorists attempting to observe construction activities near Cave City.
US 31-W is also extremely congested through the towns of Bonnieville, Munfordville, Horse Cave and Cave City with very long queues at intersections.
Schools letting out for the day in Bonnieville, Munfordville and Horse Cave along US 31W will add to congestion.
Motorists are urged to drive with additional caution, as roads are wet, which reduces stopping distances.
Being a heavy travel weekend, congestion is expected to last through the afternoon drive and ease into the evening.
