Trial Dates Set for Autry Murder Trials

By Dan Modlin/AP

Bowling Green, KY – A Judge in Bowling Green has set tentative court dates
for the trials of the two men charged in connection with
the murder of a Western Kentucky University student.
Daviess County Circuit Judge Thomas Castlen
scheduled jury selection for July 30th in the trial of
20 year old Stephen Soules.

Castlen also set a January 2005 trial date for 22 year
old Lucas Goodrum. Prosecutors indicated last
summer that they wanted to try the two defendents
at separate times. Both Soules and Goodrum face a
possible death sentence if they are convicted.

The two men are charged with murder in the death
of 18 year old Katie Autry. Prosecutors say the men
raped and beat Autry and set her room on fire in
May of 2003. Autry later died at Vanderbilt Hospital.
