Knoxville, TN – The three member board of the Tennessee Valley
Authority has approved a rate hike of more than
seven percent for residential and business customers.
The board also lowered rates two percent for about
1500 manufacturers.
T-V-A says the money is needed to pay for pollution
control equipment at its coal-fired power plants. A
residential customer who uses one thousand kilowatt
hours of power per month will seen an increase of
less than four dollars.
