TVA Reports Profits Up

By AP

Knoxville, TN – TVA reports it had booking electricity sales and a $105,000,000 profit in the third quarter. But it was offset by the pending loss of a Kentucky power distributor and possibly others.
Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation, a 54,000 customer utility, would be only the second distributor to leave TVA since the federal utility was formed in the 1930's.
WRECC signed a long-tern deal recently to join East Kentucky Power Cooperative, which is powered by low cost Kentucky coal, in 2008.
Electricity sales for TVA reached 40.7 billion kilowatt hours for the three month period ending June 30th. This was a 3 billion kilowatt hour increase over the same period the year before.
TVA credited warmer temperatures and economic growth.
