The Leitchfield-based Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center and Norton Healthcare held a news conference to announce a formal affiliation agreement. Officials say the agreement will provide the staff at Twin Lakes access to on-line courses and training available through Norton University, and will lead to better coordination and continuity of care for patients who require specialized or tertiary care.
Local ownership of Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center will be maintained. Twin Lakes Chief Executive Officer Steve Meredith told WKU Public Radio that the new arrangement will "better position" the Leitchfield facility to deal with healthcare reform changes. Twin Lakes was recently named as one of three regional hospitals in Kentucky and Indiana to receive grants to install telemedicine equipment which will also make use of resources at Norton Healthcare's five hospitals in Louisville.
