Two Families Sue Over Bus Crash that Killed Preschoolers

A lawsuit has been filed in the school bus crash last month that killed two preschoolers in northern Kentucky. Independence lawyer Eric Deters filed the lawsuit Tuesday on behalf of the families of two children injured in the Oct. 29 crash.

Nine children and two adults were aboard the Carroll County School District bus that was traveling home from a Head Start program when it flipped over on a country lane and crashed into a tree.

Deters filed the lawsuit against bus driver Laura Reed as well as Carroll County school superintendent Lisa James and the Carroll County Board of Education.

James said Wednesday there would be no comment on the lawsuit.

The lawsuit says one bus rider, Erica Isaias Cruz, fractured her left leg, and the second, Ryleigh Nicole Hollingsworth, fractured her collarbone.

It seeks unspecified damages.
