U-S Senate Approves Transportation Bill

By Dan Modlin

Washington, D.C. – The U-S Senate has approved a transportation bill
that could result in more than 535 million dollars in
federal highway funds for Kentucky. The Fiscal
Year 2004 Transportation Spending Bill passed
by a vote of 91 to 3.

U-S Senator Jim Bunning says the bill urges the
FAA to give funding priority to Barkley Regional
Airport in Paducah and Henderson City-County
Airport for improvements to terminal parking and
runway areas. Other projects specifically
included in the Senate
version of the bill could help Owensboro, Murray,
northern Kentucky, Crittenden County, and Danville.

House and Senate conferees will try to resolve
differences between respective versions of the
legislation.
