Unemployment Rates Mostly Down in Kentucky

Frankfort, KY – Unemployment rates fell in 102 Kentucky counties between July 2003 and July of this year, rose in 16 and remained the same in Jessamine and MaGoffic counties.
The report was released Tuesday by the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training in the Education Cabinet.
In July of this year, five counties had jobless rates at or above 10% and 24 counties recorded double-digit rates in July 2003. Woodford county's 2.4% jobless rate was the lowest in the commonwealth.
Other low rates were recorded in Oldham county at 2.8%, Fayette 3.0%, Anderson and Franklin counties #.1%, Caldwell 3.5%, Henry at 3.6% and Jessamine, Mercer and Pulaski counties at 3.7% each.
Elliot county recorded the state's highest unemplyment rate at just over 15%. It was followed by Carter county at 14.5% and MaGoffin at 14%
