Voter Registration Deadline Nears in Kentucky

Tuesday is an important deadline for the November 6th general election.  It’s the last day for Kentuckians to register to vote.  Tuesday is also the deadline to make a name or address change or to switch party affiliation.  People who will be 18 years old on or before November 6th are eligible to vote.  County clerks’ offices will accept voter registration cards until close of business Tuesday.  Voters can also mail in their registration, but it must have an Oct. 9 postmark.

Kentuckians can check their registration status, at the Secretary of State’s website.

The state’s total number of registered voters has increased by just over 35, 000 since the 2011 General Election. Fifty-five percent of registered voters are Democrats and 38% Republicans.  Seven-percent of the electorate identifies as “other.”
