Weather Service Issues Red Flag Warning for Fire Threat
By Associated Press and Dan Modlin
Low humidity and windy conditions are creating a critical fire danger in some parts of the Commonwealth today. The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for an area that includes the cities of Owensboro, Madisonville, and Hopkinsville until 7pm.
The same dry conditions have caused a similar warning to be issued until eight pm for all of eastern Kentucky, including Somerset, Morehead, Jackson, and Pikeville.
Ironically, cold temperatures are also leading to weather-related concerns in Kentucky. A freeze watch has been issued for most of the Commonwealth that lies east of Interstate 65. The freeze watch is in effect for late tonight until after sunrise Wednesday.
