Web exclusive: recipe for ginger-peppercorn syrup
Bowling Green, Ky – Here's the recipe for the special syrup Cole Phelps uses for the mint juleps he makes at Louisville's Oakroom Restaurant:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup water
2 oz sliced or grated Ginger
1/3 cup whole black peppercorns
Bring to a slow simmer over medium heat for 5-10 minutes. Let cool, strain and serve!
