The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is planning to take advantage of favorable temperatures this weekend to perform pavement repairs to a busy section of Interstate 65 near downtown Louisville. This section of road didn't receive improvements during summer construction and was last paved in 2006.
Matt Bullock, chief district engineer for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, says, "Much of the asphalt pavement in 'Hospital Curve' is showing signs of rutting and repairs are needed. " Northbound Interstate 65 will be limited to one lane between the Chestnut Street overpass and the Main Street overpass.
Crews are planning to perform repairs in the left and center lanes. Officials say they hope to have the work completed by 7:00am Sunday, but the time could be adjusted due to weather or other unforeseen delays.
Motorists are urged to use caution and to reduce speed in the work zone.
