Wintry Mix Predicted for Tonight and Early Tuesday

The National Weather Service predicts a mix of wintry weather is on the way tonight into tomorrow morning. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews have started pre-treating highways in western and northern Kentucky in anticipation of possible sleet or snow tonight.

Southern counties are expected to get mostly rain, though snow and sleet are possible during the overnight hours.

It normally takes about two days for crews to treat all roadways. Crews are initially concentrating on main roads and will move to secondary roads as time permits. Motorists should be alert for slow moving trucks spraying brine on the roads all day. The brine dries on road surfaces leaving behind a fine powder of salt to help keep snow and ice from bonding to the road.
