WKU Hilltoppers Head to Miami Saturday for Key Sun Belt Matchup

With just five games remaining in the 2012-13 regular season, WKU finishes a road weekend in Florida with a 6:30 PM (CT) showdown Saturday at FIU in a game that could have implications in seeding for the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament.

WKU currently sits one-half game behind the Panthers for third place in the conference’s east division and one-half game ahead of Florida Atlantic in fourth, and all three are in the hunt for one of the five first-round byes in the tournament.

The Hilltoppers have lost seven of their last eight road contests, and a win on Saturday would avoid the squad’s fourth three-game losing streak since mid-December.

Perhaps the most improved team in the conference this season, FIU has already won five more games than last year as a whole after being picked to finish last in the east division in the preseason coaches’ poll.

WKU has won nine of the last ten games against FIU and three-straight contested in Miami.

WKU returns to E.A. Diddle Arena on Thursday to face ULM.
