WKU Record-Setter Headed to Finals in Olympic Swimming Trials

A former WKU swimmer is among the nation's best at the sport, and she's proving it this week at the Olympic swimming trials in Omaha.  Claire Donahue advanced out of the semi-finals last night in the 100-meter butterfly, posting a time of 58.53 seconds.  Anxious about the finals tonight, Donahue tells WKU Public Radio she's trying not to let nerves cloud the experience.

"It's really hard for people to even get in to this meet.  A lot of people say it's experience and not so much how you do.  So I'm really trying to take it all in and just have fun with it," says Donahue.

Donahue is tied at sixth of out eight heading into the finals.  The top two finishers tonight will compete in the Olympics next month in London.
