A WKU senior died early Sunday after being shot in Louisville over the Thanksgiving weekend. The Jefferson County deputy coroner identified the victim as 24-year-old Cheryl Williamson. The Courier-Journal reports Williamson was a senior fashion major.
Williamson was reportedly attending a public party on W. Market St. in Louisville Saturday night. She became involved in an argument with two men early Sunday morning outside the building where the party was being held, and was shot in the chest.
A bystander took Williamson to University Hospital, where she underwent surgery. She died within two hours of arriving at the hospital.
The incident is being investigated as a homicide, Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.
