WKYU-FM Entry for Best Reporter, 2013 Kentucky AP Competition

This audio compilation is an entry by WKYU-FM in the Best Radio Reporter category in the 2013 Kentucky Associated Press Broadcasters competition.

This entry highlights some of the excellent work done in 2012 by Lisa Autry. The first story takes you inside the Bowling Green General Motors plant to learn how the facility was preparing to start production of the next generation Corvette.

The second story you'll hear highlights the impact of organ donations in our region. You'll meet a northern Tennessee mother and father and their baby son. Andrew was born with an enlarged heart and needed a transplant once he was born.

Next, Lisa reports on the latest developments concerning the murder trial of Ft. Campbell soldier Brent Burke, who was accused of killing his estranged wife and her former mother-in-law in Hardin County, Kentucky.

The final two parts of this entry feature reporting Lisa did from Centre College in Danville, site of the 2012 Vice Presidential debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan. Lisa focused on the role social media was playing in promoting the debate and how sites like Twitter and Facebook are changing the way Americans view such high-profile events. In the final part of our entry, Lisa highlighted the major issues discussed by the VP candidates during the debate.

Thank you for your time, and for considering this entry for Best Radio Reporter!
