Owensboro Grain to Explore Idea of Gas-Fired Turbines

Owensboro Grain Co. is exploring the possibility of using natural gas-fired turbines to generate its own electricity for a soybean plant. CEO Jeff Erb called the idea "pie in the sky" for now, but the company's board has approved looking into the co-generation option.

Corbin Company Cutting About 250 Jobs

A company in southern Kentucky says it is cutting about 250 workers after a federal contract wasn't renewed. Computer Sciences Corporation said in a statement that all the jobs at its facility in Williamsburg would be impacted by the loss of the contract.

UMW Sues Coal Companies Over Pension and Healthcare Benefits

The United Mine Workers of America is suing Arch Coal and Peabody Energy.  The suit involves pension and healthcare benefits for bankrupt Patriot Coal Corporation's active and retired miners and their families.
