Notices are going out in the mail to an estimated 37,000 Tennessee borrowers who may be eligible for payment under a $25 billion national mortgage foreclosure settlement. Eligible borrowers will be receiving claim forms in the mail this month and Attorney General Bob Cooper of Tennessee urged residents to complete the forms and return them by the January 18, 2013 deadline.

The General Assembly’s House Task Force on Foreclosures has been meeting this week in Frankfort, to get updated information on the national foreclosure situation  and its impact in Kentucky.

Tennessee is launching a toll-free hotline for homeowners who are either in—or on the brink of—foreclosure. The Tennessean reports the hotline is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. central time, Mondays through Fridays.
