A well-known Army commander is coming back to Fort Campbell after taking a prestigious fellowship at Harvard University. Col. Andrew Poppas is taking over as the new deputy commander for operations under Maj. Gen. James C. McConville, the commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division.
A Purple Heart medal given to a former officer assigned to the 101st Airborne Division in World War II is being returned to Fort Campbell, Ky. The medal was mailed to the U.S. Embassy in London without a return address in July, according to the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
An AWOL Ft. Campbell soldier convicted of planning to blow up a restaurant full of Texas soldiers will represent himself when he’s sentenced next month. Army Pfc.
