Ft. Campbell Soldier Found Guilty in Bomb Plot Against Texas Soldiers

A federal jury on Thursday convicted an AWOL Muslim soldier from Fort Campbell of attempting to blow up a Texas restaurant full of Fort Hood troops. The Waco jury convicted Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo of the most serious charge, attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, which could land him in prison for life. Abdo also was convicted of attempted murder of U.S. officers or employees, and four counts of possessing a weapon in furtherance of a federal crime of violence.

Fifth Trial Set For Brent Burke

Army Sgt. Brent Burke

A new trial date has been set in the court martial of a Kentucky soldier facing two murder charges. Sergeant Brent Burke is accused of killing his estranged wife and her former mother-in-law in 2007. The two women were found shot to death inside a home in Rineyville in Hardin County.

Ft. Campbell Sergeant Receives Second Highest Military Honor

The Distinguished Service Cross

A Fort Campbell soldier credited with saving the lives of two fellow soldiers during an attack in Afghanistan while wounded has been presented with the nation's second highest military honor. Sgt. Felipe Pereira of the 101st Airborne Division was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross by Gen. Ray Odierno, Army chief of staff, during a ceremony Thursday at the installation on the Tennessee-Kentucky state line.
