Louisville Woman Sentenced for Little Sisters of the Poor Embezzlement

Little Sisters of the Poor

A woman from Louisville is heading to prison for embezzling money from the Little Sisters of the Poor. Investigators say the woman stole more than $364,000 from the charity. Chief Judge Joseph H. McKinley sentenced 53-year-old Mary K. Montfort to 27 months in federal prison. She also must pay restitution of the money she was accused of stealing from the national charity.

Woman Faces Jail Time for Defrauding The Little Sisters of the Poor

A woman from Jefferson County is facing up to 160 years in prison after pleading guilty to defrauding the Little Sisters of the Poor. 53 year old Mary Montfort stole more than $364,000 from the charity, and has admitted in court that she fraudulently issued checks payable to herself and forged the signatures of authorized employees.
