Traffic crossing the Ohio River between Owensboro and southern Indiana will encounter some lane restrictions for the next couple of weeks.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says traffic will be restricted to one lane on the Kentucky 2262 bridge in downtown Owensboro starting Monday to allow for a detailed inspection of the bridge structure.
The bridge connects Kentucky 2262 with Indiana state route 161.
Flaggers will control alternating flow on the bridge from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m weekdays, with work expected to be completed by June 15th, depending on weather.
Owensboro and Daviess County law enforcement agencies report a drop in attempts to sell synthetic marijuana by stores since the passage of a state law banning the product. However, both Owensboro Police and Daviess County Sheriff's officials are now concerned that the fake pot is being sold by individuals who bought the product before the law began in April.
A medical team in Owensboro is preparing to use a robotic surgical unit to perform a single-incision gall bladder removal. Friday's procedure at Owensboro Medical Health System will use a device known as the da Vinci Surgical System, which has been in use there since 2009.
The Owensboro City Commission is scheduled to vote on an ordinance that would ban the use of skateboards in the city’s downtown. The Messenger-Inquirer reports the commission is meeting tonight at 5pm at City Hall. The ordinance is expected to pass based on previous discussions by commissioners.
