This week, NPR and ProPublica have been reporting on the Red Cross response in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Isaac and other major storms.

Updating earlier reports on deaths and injuries in Kentucky, following Friday's severe storms, the Kentucky Department of Health says coroners in the state have reported seventeen fatalities. In addition, about 300 injuries connected to the storms have been reported.

Governor Beshear and Lieutenant Governor Jerry Abramson are touring some of the devastated areas today.Damage has been reported in forty Kentucky counties,and at least ten counties have declared states of emergency.
