A southern Kentucky sheriff has destroyed 27 electronic gambling machines confiscated earlier this during two raids. Laurel County Sheriff John Root told The Times-Tribune that deputies crushed the machines with a bulldozer Friday at the county's Lily Landfill.
A program in Kentucky that provides financial assistance to low income homes in the winter may be a target for scam artists. The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, runs through mid-December.

Governor Steve Beshear has ordered that state flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff today in honor of Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Anthony Rakes. The Deputy died this week after being shot during a routine traffic stop in Marion County.
