Sharply colder temperatures are chasing rain that is moving eastward across the commonwealth. By dawn, the rain had cleared much of western Kentucky, but was steadily falling from west of the Pennyrile Parkway eastward across the Bluegrass region. Temperatures were tumbling in its wake.
The continuing cleanup work at West Point following the train derailment will require reclosing US 31W. Emergency officials plan on initiating this phase of cleanup beginning Tuesday, November 13th. Detours will be in place as before, with motorists using KY 313 (Joe Prather Highway) as a detour on the south side of the closure and I-265 (Gene Snyder Freeway) as a detour on the north side of the closure.
Indiana isn’t talking about legalizing marijuana the way Colorado and Washington voters did this week, but key legislators from both parties are looking at decriminalizing possession of small amounts of the drug. Supporters say that prosecuting pot users carries too high a cost in state spending and ruined lives, crowding state prisons and damaging young offenders’ futures.

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting that an earthquake centered in Kentucky also rattled at least three other states. The USGS website says the epicenter of the 4.3 magnitude earthquake on Saturday afternoon was about 10 miles west of Whitesburg, in Letcher County.
