Ruling Expected On 37th District Seat

Frankfort, Ky – A judge in Franklin County says he does have the power to decide whether Republican Dana Seum Stephenson should be in the state senate.
Franklin County Circuit judge William Graham says he expects to make the decision late Friday.
Stephenson received more votes than Democrat Virginia Woodward in the 37th district in Jefferson County. But Woodward successfully argued that Stephenson did not meet the six year residency requirement. Last week the senate voted to ignore that judicial ruling and seat Stephenson

Marathon Session For Louisville Council

Louisville, KY – It took the Louisville Metro Council eight hours and 100 ballots, but early Tuesday morning democrat Barbara Shanklin was elected president.
The vote was 14 - 12 after democrat George Melton switched his support to Shanklin after favoring republican Kelly Downard for a second term earlier.
It was 1:55 a.m. when the council elected its first African-American and first female president.
