Fort Campbell, Kentucky – A memorial service is scheduled Friday for two soldiers from Fort Campbell's 101st Airborne Division killed last week during a training exercise in Louisiana.
The two soldiers are 27-year-old Corporal Jason Fisher of Thousand Oaks, California, and 20-year-old Private First Class Joseph Favorito III of Higgins Lake, Michigan. They were run over by a 63 ton tank while participating in urban assault exercises at the Army's Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk.
Frankfort, Kentucky – State officials deny they tried to prevent the State Auditor from learning about Medicaid overpayments to a nursing home owned by Tina Connor. The Governor's former mistress operates Birchtree Healthcare in Clinton, Kentucky. Auditor Ed Hatchett says the state's Medicaid Agency tried to withhold information about the extra payments. Hatchett also says the Medicaid office has not managed the debt it is owed, known as "accounts receivable". But, officials with the Medicaid Agency deny both the allegations.
Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio Highway Patrol says an armed suspect believed to be an escaped convict from Kentucky got away from troopers last night after a chase on US 23 in north central Ohio. FBI sources have told the Patrol the suspect is 25 year old Chadrick Fulks of Lewisburg, Kentucky.
Owensboro – Daviess County Fiscal Court is reported to be ready to consider an ordinance permitting the sale of alcohol by the drink on Sunday at qualifying restaurants. Daviess County Judge Executive Reid Haire says Fiscal Court intends to hear first reading of such an ordinance at the Court's December 5th meeting with second reading and possible passage as early as December 19th.
