The latest Tennessee Men’s Health Report Card is out, with mostly bad news for the Volunteer State. Tennessee men get F’s for a host of mortality measures, including deaths by lung, head, and neck cancer, liver disease, motor vehicle accidents, suicides, and homicides.
A new poll of Tennesseans shows a majority of those surveyed want either all or part of the federal health care law found unconstitutional. But the same survey showed most people were happy with certain provisions of the law. The survey was conducted this month by Vanderbilt University, and polled 1,000 Tennessee residents.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville will participate in a nationwide clinical study about the use of deep brain stimulation as an intervention for patients with major depression. The stimulation uses mild pulses of current to regulate specific areas of the brain, much like a pacemaker uses pulses of current to regulate the heart.
