Jimmy Feix could be posthumously honored with induction into the College Football Hall of Fame next year. The winningest coach in WKU football history is back on the ballot for 2015.

Feix died earlier this month at age 83.  He was previously nominated for the hall in 1997.  Only 207 coaches in college football history are in the Hall of Fame.

Saturday’s game for WKU marks the first time they’ve played at home since Feix’s passing.  The university will observe a moment of silence before the game.

WKU has a new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.  Head coach Jeff Brohm has selected Cincinnati’s Tyson Helton to fill the role that Brohm himself held last season.  Helton spent one year as special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at Cincinnati.  The Bearcats had a 9-4 season and appeared in the Belk Bowl against North Carolina.

Helton has 13 years of coaching experience, including six at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Brohm and Helton were on the same staff at UAB in 2012.

Helton, 36, played football and earned his bachelor’s degree from Houston.  He and his wife April have two daughters, ages 10 and 8 and twin 5-year-old boys.

Andrews Leads WKU to Big Win Over Morgan State

WKU  took its early season frustrations out on Morgan State behind 291 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns from Antonio Andrews in a 58-17 win Saturday night.

Andrews' five scores broke the WKU (2-2) record for most rushing touchdowns in a single game. Andrews wasted no time getting things started with a 65-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage against the Bears (0-4). The senior finished with 17 carries for 213 yards on the ground. True freshman quarterback Todd Porter earned his first collegiate start for the Hilltoppers and all four quarterbacks saw time on the field. In Porter's NCAA debut, he completed five of 10 passes for 76 yards and threw one interception. WKU amassed 588 yards of total offense while Morgan State tallied 317 yards. Linebacker Xavius Boyd led all defenders with 10 tackles and Andrew Jackson followed closely with nine in the Hilltoppers' victory.
