Louisville, KY – There were at least eight traffic deaths in Kentucky over the past
weekend. State officials now say many of the serious accidents
were caused by drunken drivers.

Some Lawmakers Question Program for Potential Dropouts

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky's plan to create a General Education Development
Program for potential high school dropouts has prompted
questions from some members of the General Assembly.
The idea is considered a departure from the traditional
G-E-D for those who already have dropped out of school.

Superintendent Says Girl Can Bring Special Dog to School

Mount Vernon, KY – The School Superintendent in Rockcastle County says a
seven year old girl will be able to bring a service dog
to class-----once he gets a letter of medical necessity
from a doctor who has treated Cheyenne Gilliam.

Cheyenne suffers from frequent epileptic seizures.
She and her dog, Mikki, have spent two days out of
Mount Vernon Elementary, because officials say they
weren't authorized to let the 55 pound dog into the
school.

Greyhound Bus Accident Claims Three Lives

Jackson, TN – Authorities say a Greyhound bus ran into the back of
a tractor-trailer rig on Interstate 40 this morning, killing
the bus driver and two passengers. The wreck sent 17
other passengers to hospitals. At least fourteen passengers
were treated and released.

Authorities say the tractor-trailer was pulling back onto
the highway from the emergency lane when the bus
struck it from behind. A Greyhound spokesperson says
the bus was en route to Memphis from Louisville when
the accident occurred.
