Frankfort, KY – A bill that would let motorists drive Kentucky's interstate highways and parkways at 70 mph has cleared the state senate. The speed limit on other state highways with four or more lanes would be 65 mph. Senator Brett Guthrie of Warren County is the bill's sponsor. He says Kentucky would join 30 other states that already have at least 70 mph speed limits. House speaker Jody Richards says he thinks the speed limit bill would fare favorably in the House also, where a similar bill is pending.
Lexington, KY – Doctors should decide Wednesday afternoon how long Governor Fletcher will remain hospitalized. Fletcher had surgery Tuesday to remove his gall bladder. Fletcher spokesman Brett Hall says Fletcher rested peacefully Tuesday nmight and is doing well. Hall says Fletcher is eager to get back to work. The Governor reassumed his gubernatorial powers Tuesday but doctors say it could be weeks before he's back to work.
