Transpark and WKU Bus Funding in Transportation Bill

Washington, DC/Bowling Green – U-S Senator Mitch McConnell says he has secured
over five million dollars in funding for the Kentucky
TriModal Transpark. The money is included in the
Senate Transportation Appropriations bill, and
will be used to build and improve internal roads
for the business park.

In addition, the legislation includes two and a half
million dollars to replace six buses and one ADA
bus that transport students at Western Kentucky
University.

Patton Agrees to Two Ethics Charges

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Governor Paul Patton says he chose to
settle ethics charges he was facing---- not as an
admission of guilt---- but because of how he felt
the Executive Branch Ethics Commission intepreted
the law. Patton agreed to two of the four violations
the Commission leveled against him in March.

The Commission charged Kentucky's Governor with
four instances of allegedly using his power and
influence to benefit his former mistress, Tina Conner.

Tennessee Senators Call for Change on TVA Board

Knoxville, TN – U-S Senators Lamar Alexander and Bill Frist say
an Energy Bill compromise reached in Washington
contains a provision which will expand the TVA
board. The Tennessee lawmakers say the
board will change from three full-time members to
nine part-time members and a Chief Executive Officer.

The change outlined in the energy legislation would
mark a significant departure from past board
practices at TVA. The Knoxville-based agency was
founded in 1933.

Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Capture Suspects

Baghdad, Iraq – The U-S Military says soldiers from the 101st Airborne
have captured twenty people suspected of attacks
against American forces in Northern Iraq. The arrests
came during raids which started Tuesday night.

Authorities say four suspects in the deaths of two
members of the 101st are among those captured.
A statement from the Division says Iraqi civilians helped
to provide information that led to the identification
and arrest of the suspects.

Jury Returns Verdict in Catron Killing

Somerset, KY – A jury in Pulaski County has returned a guilty verdict
for the man accused of plotting the assassination of
former Pulaski County Sheriff Sam Catron. Jurors
deliberated for 45 minutes this afternoon before
finding 57 year old Kenneth White guilty of complicity
in the murder.
