Louisville, KY – The Kentucky State Police say the highway death rate in the Commonwealth is on pace to become the highest in nearly twenty years. Eight people died on the state's highways during the four day Thanksgiving holiday period, bringing the year-to-date toll to 848.
Bowling Green, KY – Warren Circuit Court Judge Tom Lewis has granted a motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed against Western Kentucky University and five employees of the institution. The civil suit had been filed by the estate of Melissa Kaye Autry, who died after being burned and assaulted in her residence hall room last May.
Nicholasville, KY – Four Republican legislators who want Governor-Elect Ernie Fletcher's seat in Congress made a joint debut at a public forum. About 130 people attended the forum, at which each of the hopefuls talked about past legislative accomplishments and conservative credentials. Those attending were State Senators Alice Forgy Kerr and Tom Buford, as well as State Representatives Lonnie Napier and Stan Lee.
Lexington, KY – Governor-Elect Ernie Fletcher has named his new Executive Director of the Governor's Office of Agricultural Policy. Keith Rogers, who is currently the District Director for Second District Congressman Ron Lewis, will move to that job on December ninth.
Rogers is a Hardin County farmer who also served as Senior Legislative Assistant for Agriculture for Congressman Lewis, before becoming District Director.
