The Associated Press is reporting that a medical clinic and shelter in Pikeville have been closed until early April, while owners attempt to treat the entire facility for a bedbug infestation. Westcare Kentucky Vice President Leslie Balonick says the bugs were found in a room in the men's dormitory and an exterminator advised closing the Pikeville clinic for the next ten days. Exterminators will use that time to clean out the buildings.
Negotiators for the Senate and House have started talks to work out disagreements on spending priorities for a new state budget in Kentucky. A group of Representatives and Senators held their initial meeting this morning on the two year, 19.5 billion dollar budget.
An anonymous purchaser has paid $4.5 million for a unique soda fountain at an auction of Coca Cola Memorabilia in Elizabethtown. The News Enterprise and the Associated Press report that the buyer bid by phone Sunday for the item offered by the Schmidt Museum of Coca Cola Memorabilia.
The National Weather Service says a line of storms that moved through the Louisville area Friday afternoon produced an F1 tornado and knocked out power to about twelve thousand homes and businesses. Some homes were damaged, as well. The tornado struck about 13 miles southeast of downtown Louisville, and was on the ground for 2.5 miles.
