The big roller coasters at the old Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville won't be back when the park reopens as Bluegrass Boardwalk. The application for tax credits reveals that several rides will not be refurbished due to their age and the cost of repairs.
After years of speculating, Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville is coming back to life. The amusement park will reopen next spring as Bluegrass Boardwalk. The tentative opening date is exactly one year from now--May 11, 2013. Bluegrass Boardwalk will be owned by the Koch family, the current owners of Holiday World in Indiana. President Dan Koch says incentives and financing are in place and he's confident of the park's reopening next spring.
The House budget committee has passed the first of this special session's 2 major bills on the call. The 25 to 2 vote sends the measure authorizing $4.5 billion in spending on road projects to the full House for a Wednesday vote.
